Outage Followed By Outrage as FanDuel DFS No Intention of Issuing Refunds
On November 21, 2024, FanDuel's Daily Fantasy Sports platform experienced what was reported as significant technical difficulties, preventing users from entering or editing their lineups just before contest lock times.
This incident led to widespread frustration among users, many of whom missed out on participating in scheduled events.
Customers took to Twitter in particular to voice their outrage.
"It’s frustrating to lose out because of app issues. Are refunds being issued for this? Feels like the only fair solution."
"@FanDuel_Support where are the refunds from the nfl slate? No update? You robbed people of their entries. Site was down for two hours before kickoff and two more hours into the game. Every single entry needs to be refunded and there should not be any rebuttal to that. Respond."

FanDuel could still issue refunds though their intentions are yet to be addressed as of Friday morning.

Charges Being Considered in UK Election Betting Scandal Case
Britain’s Gambling Commission is reportedly considering charges against five individuals involved in the betting scandal concerning the date of the general election in the United Kingdom.
Cited by Sky News, a source said: “The Gambling Commission is looking to prosecute at least three suspects, but possibly up to five. This includes a politician and a close protection guard.”
ReadWrite cannot independently verify this claim, however, a Commission spokesperson told us: “We clearly appreciate the level of public interest there is in this ongoing investigation but to protect the integrity of the investigation and to ensure a fair and just outcome, we are unable to comment further at this time, including the name of any person who may be under suspicion, or the total number of suspects.”

The Kremlin was swift in its condemnation.
“It is obvious that the outgoing administration in Washington intends to take steps, and they have been talking about this, to continue adding fuel to the fire and provoking further escalation of tensions around this conflict,” spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Russia’s U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia went further at a U.N. Security Council meeting marking 1,000 days of war, saying Moscow is “astounded” that the leaders of Britain and France “are eager to play into the hands of the exiting administration and are dragging not just their countries but the entire Europe into large-scale escalation with drastic consequences.”
The threats were deepening by Thursday.
The Kremlin said on Friday that a strike on Ukraine using a newly developed hypersonic ballistic missile was a message to the West that Moscow will respond harshly to any "reckless" Western actions in support of Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was speaking a day after President Vladimir Putin said Moscow had fired the new missile - the Oreshnik or Hazel Tree - at a Ukrainian military facility in response to Kyiv striking Russia with U.S.-made and British-made missiles this week for the first time after the U.S. granted its approval.
"The main message is that the reckless decisions and actions of Western countries that produce missiles, supply them to Ukraine, and subsequently participate in strikes on Russian territory cannot remain without a reaction from the Russian side," Peskov told reporters.
"The Russian side has clearly demonstrated its capabilities, and the contours of further retaliatory actions in the event that our concerns are not taken into account have been quite clearly outlined," he said.
Moscow also threatened to attack Poland with the Kremlin warning it can strike a US base using 'advanced weapons' as NATO scrambled jets.

A police report on the allegation of sexual assault against Pete Hegseth, the Fox News star nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as secretary of defense, was obtained by Mediaite on Wednesday and contains graphic details of the 2017 encounter.
The report, provided by the City of Monterey, California, was previously released to Hegseth in March 2021, per his request. It runs 22 pages and details the allegation leveled by a woman who claimed in 2017 that she was sexually assaulted by the cable news star at a Republican women’s conference.
As of Friday morning, Polymarket gamblers were giving Hegseth a 57% chance of being confirmed and a 54% chance of becoming the next Defense Secretary.
